As a registered and endorsed human rights charitable organisation we are committed to creating a global movement with a common purpose to:
increase living standards, health outcomes and environmental sustainability for people living in energy poverty conditions.
reduce the number of deaths of men, women and children living in energy poor conditions;
protect our World from deteriorating ecological change.
implement a practical action plan that will effectively:
supply modern, sustainable energy technology to the energy poor;
reduce the use of fossil fuels by the energy poor damaging our Planet’s atmosphere causing climate change and the greenhouse effect.
Our inspiration is our commitment to saving the lives of men, women and children dying every 20 seconds as a result of energy poverty; the alleviation of people’s suffering forced to live in energy poor conditions; the prevention of further damage to our Planet’s eco-system from CO2 emissions produced by the energy poor.
The cornerstone principles of the Green Planet Foundation are to:
ameliorate the hidden crisis of energy poverty that condemns billions of men, women and children to live in absolute poverty because they have no access to modern energy resources;
protect our Planet’s well-being from the effects of global warming; greenhouse gas emissions and climate change caused as a consequence of energy poverty.
Simple and effective technologies are available to deliver clean and efficient energy to energy poor communities in African countries. Our Foundation is committed to facilitating and providing the energy poor with such technology in order to ameliorate the grip like affect the absence of electricity has on the energy poor. Modern energy, being a critical issue for human development, should be considered a basic right, and should be provided on the basis of justice for the poor. We cannot allow the energy poor to base their economic growth on dirty energy sources. It ignores health concerns, ties development to volatile imports, and goes against international efforts to slow global warming and the reduction of the World’s carbon footprint.
